Saint Joseph

St Joseph wine comes from the Loire and Ardeche regions. in France. It belongs to the northen valley of the river Rhône.

It was known as “mallow wine” until the seventeenth century when the Jesuits gave it the actual name of “Vin St Joseph”. It was classified Grand Cru in 1956.

St Joseph red wine is made with syrah, roussane or marsanne grapes and shows a purple colour.

It starts on blackcurrant and raspberry aromas. As it grows old, it evolves towards leather and liquorice.

St Joseph white wine is made with marsanne or roussane grapes. Its beautiful yellow colour has green reflects. This wine tends to have flower aromas with a touch of honey.

It can be kept 3 to 10 years, according to the Millesime.
