BordeauxChâteau Couhins Lurton
Resurrected by one of the greatest French figures in the world of wine, André Lurton, Château Couhins-Lurton was created after the division of the Couhins estate in 1970. The chateau and its outbuildings were purchased in 1992 and the beautiful park laid out by the famous landscape artiste Lebreton has been fully restored.
André Lurton, President and founder of the Syndicat Viticole de Pessac-Léognan as well as instigator of the eponymous Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, owns many Chateaux. For more than 50 years, he has rigorously and passionately selected the best terroirs in Bordeaux to produce the best wines.
Couhins-Lurton Sauvignon blanc is a Cru Classé of Pessac-Léognan which has a very good ageing potential. Six hectares of gravelly soils are planted to this grape varieties.
Seventeen hectares planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have been dedicated to produce Couhins Lurton Pessac-Léognan red wine since 2002. Its gravelly rise is the highest point in the commune of Villenave d’Ornon and is exceptionnally well exposed.
