Château du Tertre belonged to the most famous families of the Médoc such as d’Arsac, Montaignes and Ségur. In 1997, Eric Albada Jelgersma of Château Giscours, a Dutch businessman, purchased the estate. Thanks to his know-how and significant investments, the estate could be modernised while preserving the traditional methods which were used to build Château du Tertre’s success in the past.
Ranked as Fifth Growth, Château du Tertre (tertre refers to a hillock or knoll) has an excellent soil and an ideal exposure for its vines. In a single and coherent block, which has remained the same since 1855, the vineyards cover 52 hectares of one of the most interesting gravelly, pebbly mound of the Arsac terroir. With a Cabernet Sauvignon domination and its gustative qualities, this wine enchant senses.
