BordeauxChâteau Fonrazade

Run by a woman, Fabienne Balotte, Château Fonrazade is located next to the center of Saint-Emilion, a thousand years old miedeval village and in the middle of a prestigious terroir, which has been listed by Unesco as a World Heritage Property.

Fabienne Balotte, who combines her two passions, horses and wine, has decided to be a wine grower. She has inherited from her father an estate which he acquired in 1958 as well as his love for such a beautiful place.

Her vineyards stretch over 13 hectares of sandy brown soils, down the south-western slope of the Coteau de Mazerat, next to the famous Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Angélus. The estate is planted with 75% Merlot Noir and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. These vines are on the average 40 years old, which is an indication of the quality of the wines.

Vineyards are cultivated with care and commitment all through the year. Only hand-picked grapes of optimal quality are vinified. The characteristics of the terroir are reflected in a typical Fonrazade wine, proudly representative of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation thanks to simple, natural and traditional methods.
