BordeauxChâteau Latour

Chateau Latour owes its name to the ”Tour de Saint-Maubert”, a fortified tower built in 1378 on the banks of the estuary, near Pauillac. Unfortunately, it does not exist any longer and the existing tower is now a pigeon house built in the 17th century.

In the 18th century, Chateau Latour started to be highly recognized in northern Europe thanks to its outstanding quality. Classified as First Growth, Chateau Latour deserved a magnificent chateau which was built in 1862. Only 47 out of 78 hectares of vines are meant to produce the “Grand Vin de Chateau Latour”. This part of the vineyards, called “l’Enclos”, has a unique terroir of gravelly soils close to the Gironde river and which determines the personality of the wine.

After having matured 18 months in oak barrels and having been commercialised more than two years after the harvest, the consumer will have to wait some more years before tasting Chateau Latour and its rich, powerful and generous aromas, its depth, its structure and its finesse.
