BordeauxChâteau Pontet Canet

One of the largest estate in the Médoc and with a poor gravelly soil typical of the greatest vineyards, Chateau Pontet-Canet and its 80 hectares are located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, just south of Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Jean-François de Pontet, royal governor of the Médoc, combined several plots of vines in a place named Canet in the 18th century.

Since 1865, only two families, the Cruses and the Tesserons, have owned this estate. They have constantly strived to improve the estate and to make it known as a Fifth Growth belonging to the elite of the Médoc.

The Tesseron have insituted a plot-by-plot vineyard management system with no chemical weed killers, no hod and no trailer in order to protect the environment, their vines and the natural purety of wine. A model vat room, the first of its kind in the Médoc, is both resolutely modern and in keeping with traditional methods. Small lots can ferment alone, making the final blend easier.

Of a consistent quality, Chateau Pontet-Canet is a legendary Médoc wine, raced and pure.
