Situated in the highlands of Languedoc, Domaine Jean-Michel Alquier is one the most famous estates in the Faugères appellation. Owned by the Alquiers since 1870, these 13 ha are set on steep, south-facing slopes.
Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, for the red wines, descend deeply into a soil composed of schist, sandstone and clay which allow them to stand up high summer temperatures. Mourvedre is reputed for its high-quality tannins which guarantee a long life to a fine and elegant wine. Aged in oak barrels, aromas of small red summer fruits are subtly combined with hints of spices.
