Languedoc RoussillonMas Amiel
In a region which benefits from no less than 260 days of sun per year, between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, Mas Amiel produces worldwide renowned Côte du Roussillon and Côte du Roussillon Villages dry wines as well as Maury and Muscat de Rivesaltes vin doux natural.
Vines of Grenache Noir are aged between 40 and 50. This grape variety covers 90% of the 160 ha of the estate. Muscat petit grain and Muscat d’Alexandrie are the two other grape varieties grow in this fabulous area.
Olivier Decelle took over Mas Amiel in 1999. Led by his respect for the consumer and the vine and his aim of guaranteeing a healthy and natural product of high quality, Olivier Decelle has a policy of culture raisonnée de la vigne (reasoned grapevine culture) and only uses natural products which are good for people and the environment.
Grapes are hand-harvested and part of the yields ages in new oak barrels. Vin doux naturel are produced thanks to a process called mutage which allows the wine to keep more natural grape flavours and a greater proportion of sugar. This step is then followed by an aging in outdoor glass cylinders for a year.
