Calvados CHATEAU DU BREUIL
Located in Normandy, in ‘Pays d'Auge’, Château du Breuil is classified as a historic monument since 1954.. Château du Breuil has become one of the most prestigious Calvados distilleries and was founded by Philippe Bizouard.
This region of rich culinary tradition is famous for its fine local products such as its apples and its calvados. The castle is surrounded by 22 000 apple trees of around 40 different varieties.
With these apples is produced a cider coming from a 100% natural fermentation. The second distillation of the cider can start when it has reached its proper flavour. To produce one litre of Calvados 100% pure alcohol, about 27 kg of apples or 20 litres de cider are necessary.
The Pays d’Auge AOC Calvados is only made with apples of the region and is much more delicate and finer thanks to the quality of apples. Calvados ages in oak casks to obtain its smooth flavour and bouquet.
‘Fine Calvados’ is vigorous and fresh on the palate whereas ‘15 ans d’âge’, a blend of Calvados aged at leas 15 years, has fragrant but powerful apple aromas. Voluptuous and rich, this outstanding Calvados inspires respect.
Calvados: a concentrate of the fruit of temptation!
