Porto

There is only one place in the world where Porto can be made: in Porto valley, in Portugal. The production area is a vineyard spread on the side of the river Douro and its tributaries covering an area from Spain to 150 kms from Porto.
They use the same vinification method as Muscats’ in France: fermentation is stopped by adding a few drops of Eau de vie in the rape. Porto becomes smoother and its fruity aromas are expanding and its alcohol level reaches 20°.
Porto’s mixing method reminds of Cognacs' and Armagnacs’method. At least 15 wines from different quality, age and origin are mixed together. Porto remains in oak barrels for 3 years.
