In Guatemala, in the town of Quetzaltenango, the Botran family produces sugar canes. The family understood very well how altitude can be beneficial to let the rum grow old. They started to make rum in 1939. The Botran brothers use a very eficient system where older rums are mixed together with younger ones so they can grow old together in oak barrels: “el sistema solera”.

Botran family remains well-known pour its rums’quality. In Guatemala, the standards require the use of the first squeezed juice of the cane. These rums particularities remains to grow old in altitude, at low temperature which allow them to be so tasty.
