The distillery has been created in 1862 by Mr Dupré Barbancourt. Today over 6OO hectares of sugar cane fields are cultivated in Haïti for the Barbancourt rums production,  20% of whose on the Domaine Barbancourt own plantation.

Using a Charentaise method usually reserved to the finest cognacs.

Barbancourt rums are double distilled and aged in oak casks coming from Limousin. This method, known as the charentaise method, french region from where the family is native, is usually reserved for cognacs. This makes to those rums their unique characteristics.

Those methods of production more costly in time and investments has been kept by the heirs. This maintain the excellent quality of Barbancourt rums nowadays.
