Whisky MICHEL COUVREUR
Born in Belgium but having chosen to build his house in Burgundy, Michel Couvreur, one of the last of the artisanal producers of Scotch Whisky in the world, started as a wine trader in 1951 before taking an interest in whisky in 1978.
During that time, he took frequent trips to England and Scotland before moving there. He became involved in the production of whisky but kept his cellar in Bouze-lès-Beaune and it is there, midway between the Andalusian vineyards and the Scottish Highlands, that the fabulous beverage ages in rare old sherry casks.
Following the Scottish tradition, Michel Couvreur’s whiskies improve with time in barrels impregnated for decades by the powerful and voluptuous Sherry, Andalusian Jerez or Bourbon. His cellar is even said to hide the most fabulous whiskies ever made.
His handcrafted whiskies, recognized as the epitome of excellence, are made with the most ancient strains of cereals and Loch Katrine or Pentland Hills water. Their elegance and smoothness make them a delight to the whisky connoisseur.
